If you haven’t heard, the color of 2018 is Ultra Violet. At least according to the color experts at Pantone. “Pantone is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer. They are world-renowned authority on color. For over 50 years, Pantone has been inspiring design professionals with products, services and leading technology for the colorful exploration and expression of creativity”.
Sounds like they influence the fashion industry. So what do they have to do with food? Well, not much. But I see gorgeous purple hues in the produce section of the supermarket and I thought I would incorporate the color of the year in some delicious dishes. Besides, some of the deepest hues of purple foods, such as blueberries and blackberries contain the most abundant amount of nutrients. This smoothie is super anti-oxidant since it contains Maqui Berry Powder, blueberries and blackberries. All containing potent antioxidants known as anthocyanins, these berries offer numerous health benefits. So, here is to eating ultra violet.
And, yes the berries were slightly photo shopped to bring out the vibrant purple, but that’s just for show. The taste and antioxidants have not been altered. 🙂
